About Trevor Batchelor
Finally, after more than half a century, I thought it was about time that I dragged my light out from under the bushel.
Fifty years of personal creative development started at a very early age when I discovered that I had the talent to draw and paint with imagination, flare and skill. From that first day at school in 1954, when I scrawled realistic pastel images onto grey textured sugar paper, my mind has been constantly recording, storing - and from time to time - producing my own brand of art.
Over the years, all types of medium have been experimented with, from watercolour on paper, to oil on canvas and to acrylic on plywood. And throughout the most part of my working life as a decorator, a multitude of specialist paint techniques have been learned and then employed in order to make a crust. Inspiring artists such as Picasso, Braque, Matisse and 'it’s the way I see things' David Hockney have fuelled my lifelong passion for art.
My first experiments with photography as a medium were back in the 70s when I bought a Pentax Spotmatic SLR camera. There and then, back in those silver halide days, I eagerly taught myself the rudimentary technicalities of photography Ever since then ‘painting with light ’ has become a favourite medium and yet another means to produce and create pictures was added to my CV. Today the new era of digital imagery beckons and my sixtieth year dawns. This then is the time and place where my art and photography meet.
